The Breathing Space
8 Grange Road, Cambridge, CB3 9DU
More than a yoga studio, The Breathing Space is a multi-purpose home for wellness – a calm, restorative setting tucked away in leafy Newnham, Cambridge.
It represents a collective of movement and wellness practitioners, coming together to create something calm, personal, and rooted in community. It’s a place to pause amidst the pace of our busy lives, to realign with ourselves, and to share in a community that values curiosity, presence, and connection.
The Breathing Space hosts a wide range of classes, workshops, and community events – welcoming teachers and practitioners from across disciplines to share their skills and facilitate mindful living. “All forms of yoga practice are good” proclaims Emily Leslie, founder of the studio.
The space itself ‘found’ Leslie in February 2025 and is built with the pure intention to increase the presence of yoga in the community. Since officially opening its doors later the same year, the studio has attracted a broad range of clients, and all are welcome. As Leslie points out “We all need as many opportunities as possible to enjoy our humanity, our senses and our inner lives, and above all peace and cohesion. When we stop to reflect, these may well be the best qualities for lives imbued with joy, strength and ease.”
Yoga offers the opportunity to explore the benefits of holistic wellbeing. The physical and mental benefits are indisputable – mood, mobility, strength and proprioception are just a few to mention. What really sets yoga apart from strictly physical forms of movement, are the elements of spiritual philosophy that encourage us to live courageously and fully.
