We’ve all seen the breath-taking, cinematic imagery that can be captured by a drone, but these incredible flying machines are capable of far greater technical wizardry. Just ask innovative businessman Marc Mann, who runs drone and media specialist SkyTech Cambridge Ltd.

On top of creating captivating films and taking stunning photography, Skytech Cambridge offers a range of trailblazing services including 3D digital twin drone mapping and modelling, complex drone inspections and surveys, thermal imaging, traffic surveys and live streaming for events and security operations.

Director Marc, whose background is in IT and construction, launched SkyTech five years ago, and works alongside wife Jo, who spearheads business administration. Together, they’ve built an impressive portfolio, spanning various sectors, from councils and construction companies to military contractors and commercial property agents. Local projects have included Cambridgeshire District Council, the Cambridge half marathon and commissions for Cambridge University.

Much of Marc’s work is drone inspections and surveys (roofs, buildings and other commercial assets), providing an effective method of accessing difficult and unsafe areas, without the need for scaffolding. His specialist thermal imaging services can identify energy loss or hidden water damage in buildings as well as provide discreet security intelligence.

SkyTech’s 3D drone mapping service uses hi-tech photogrammetry to produce three-dimensional recreations of any asset, from a single building to an entire town, with the finished 3D model being centimetre accurate and accessible from any web browser. They have also successfully completed projects in Germany for military contractor, Saab and Swedish energy company, Alight.

One of the most rewarding aspects of Marc’s job is event photography and videography, specifically for charities, which he offers at a reduced rate. He regularly supports Breast Cancer Now and East Anglian Air Ambulance at events around the country. Having lost his own mum to breast cancer, it’s an opportunity for this photographer to give back to incredible charities.
