A one-of-a-kind dining experience is on the menu at Market House, which offers the best of British and Asian cuisine served in elegant surroundings.

 

Housed in a five-storey Grade II listed building overlooking Cambridge’s iconic Market Square, the stylish eatery is run by life and business partners, Bill Brogan and Jinzhao Li. With a friendly team, passionate about creating exciting experiences, it boasts a contemporary first-floor restaurant, an outdoor terrace for alfresco dining, a candle-lit wine cellar restaurant, an innovative Food Lab, private dining and flexible meeting spaces.

 

Bill and Jinzhao, who share a love of fine food and wine, launched Market House in July 2022, having spent considerable time transforming the former Don Pasquale premises. Bill has worked in hospitality all his life and was the youngest chef to hold a Michelin Star at Le Talbooth in Essex. Jinzhao, who was a senior manager for the world’s largest education group in China, met Bill when they were both working at St John’s College.

 

The cuisine at Market House is a truly unique concept for Cambridge, with a mix-and-match menu of modern British dishes such as 28-day dry aged Hereford Steak and pan roasted scallops and Asian delights including Korean fried chicken and prawn and kimchi sushi nori. The competitively-priced menu features locally-sourced and seasonal ingredients, with vegan and gluten-free choices, whilst the drinks list offers 80-plus world wines, craft gins, beers, interesting teas and locally-roasted coffee.

 

Like the cuisine, the décor respects tradition whilst honouring Jinzhao’s East Asian heritage; the most spectacular feature is a wavy metal ceiling installation, representing a magpie bridge connecting star-crossed lovers.
