Cambridge Science Centre (CSC) is an independent charity that creates wow-moments to help young people enjoy, explore and shape the world through STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths).

Their approach is simple: partner, translate and engage. They work with industry, universities and local communities, teaming up with corporate partners to really understand how STEM works in the real world. From there, they turn complex ideas into hands-on, curiosity-led experiences that spark excitement and wonder. These partnerships go beyond sharing expertise – they also bring in role models and mentors who reflect the many different people working in STEM today.

CSC’s experienced team reaches thousands of children through public opening, welcoming families of all ages and making learning something everyone can enjoy together. Through school programmes, they connect their activities directly to the curriculum in immersive spaces at their Cambridge and Wisbech centres. For community groups who face the biggest barriers to accessing STEM opportunities, CSC focuses on long-term engagement. By meeting regularly and building trust over time, they see confidence grow and positive change week by week.

In July 2024, CSC opened a brand-new permanent home at the Trinity Centre on Cambridge Science Park. The space includes more than 20 open-ended exhibits, live science shows, and dedicated Lab and Workshop areas, mainly designed for children aged 5–13. Their sister site in Wisbech is a bold, forward-thinking project tackling the urgent need for enrichment and skills development in the underserved Fenland District.

With strong local roots and growing national reach, CSC is supported by a solid evaluation framework, a creative mindset and a focus on doing things well. Their goal is to become the go-to STEM experience – delivering high-impact programmes that empower communities and help build more inclusive and diverse talent pathways.
