Hooked on horticulture from childhood, Tim Jennings still recalls the wonder of seeing potato skins he’d buried in his parents’ garden emerge from the soil as fledgling plants.

Blessed with parents who were avid gardeners and neighbours who gave him free rein of their allotments, Tim loved digging holes, sowing seeds, and nurturing plants. Though his early career was as a musician and songwriter, Tim rediscovered his passion for gardening and went on to study Garden Design at specialist environmental college, Capel Manor.

Twenty years later, Tim is an award-winning (and highly-sought-after) garden designer, specialising in domestic garden and landscape design. With a Cambridge studio adjacent to Anglesey Abbey’s magnificent grounds, he works across East Anglia and beyond, with projects ranging from intimate courtyard gardens to sprawling countryside estates.

Tim’s signature style is modern design, embracing naturalistic planting, favouring wildflowers alongside cultivated species, weaving in natural and recycled materials, to create timeless gardens where people and wildlife can thrive. His most spectacular commissions include an enchanting garden for the Wonderworks Nursery, based at the Warner Bros. Studios in Leavesden. Tim’s captivating vision transformed an uninspiring road into a wild play paradise, with winding paths, adventure areas and meadow-inspired planting, attracting a kaleidoscope of bees and butterflies.

A career pinnacle has been designing ‘A Four Seasons Sanctuary’ for the hallowed RHS Hampton Court Palace Garden Festival 2024. Combining clean-lined hard landscaping with naturalistic drift planting, hand-woven hazel hurdles, recycled timber pergolas and bug hotels, Tim showcases how eco-friendly choices and contemporary design needn’t be an either/or. Equally happy designing domestic gardens, Tim believes that even the smallest plots can become breathtaking havens with big bold planting creating an illusion of space.

Why not let Tim work his alchemy on your garden to transform your outdoor space into an extraordinary place?
