With its grand red brick façade, magnificent columned entrance and beautiful grounds, The Lodge, Duxford makes quite the first impression. Venture inside and you discover a mansion house rich in character and history. A favourite haunt of Sir Winston Churchill during the war, the hotel pays homage with its Churchill Bar, custom prints in each bedroom and bestselling Churchill Burger, featuring a Johnnie Walker Red Label glaze.
Formerly Duxford Lodge, the historic house was taken over by new owners in 2018, who’ve done an incredible job restoring it to its former glory (and beyond). The eclectic decor exudes a trendy Soho House vibe, mixing traditional features (sash windows, high ceilings), with quirky touches (a pink spiral staircase, striking modern art from Cambridge’s The Art Hound Gallery).
General Manager Craig and his friendly team offer a relaxed haven, where you can ‘work, eat and stay’ in a home-from-home environment. There’s access to high-speed internet, printers and photocopiers (plus delicious Hot Numbers coffee), and a multitude of flexible working spaces, from The Snug to the smart Drawing Room.
The 17 boutique-style bedrooms, split across the Main House, The Loft and The Stables (dog-friendly), boast a luxurious feel, all with walk-in showers and some with freestanding baths.
Freshly-cooked dishes, devised by Head Chef Tom Kewley, are served throughout the day to residents and visitors. The Graze Café specialises in freshly made cakes (including gluten-free from Honest to Goodness), light lunches and shakes whilst the Dining Room serves a more refined menu.
The Courtyard Bar, Grill & Pizza Kitchen specialise in alfresco Mediterranean fare, and the stunning heated glass houses, equipped with Sonos speakers, promise intimate dining beneath the stars.
The Lodge is a true country idyll; an ideal base for exploring Duxford Air Museum, a wow-factor wedding venue and the perfect place to enjoy cocktails around the firepit!
