Roxana de Rond possesses a rare talent to make the ordinary seem extraordinary in her warm and cheerful illustrations. Conjuring up all manner of scenes, from buoyant bathers braving Cambridge Lido to mischievous dogs causing mayhem in the park, the freelance illustrator captures moments in time in such joyful fashion, you can’t help but smile!

Individual commissions are a favourite for Roxana, who relishes the opportunity to connect with clients and immortalise special occasions, from weddings to new homes. Super friendly, she is happy to chat through ideas at her Cambridge studio or online to ensure her illustrations are meaningful and memorable. Working alongside indie businesses, she also enjoys creating beautifully bespoke art for social media, sales and stationery, reflecting the ethos and vibe of a company.

Roxana’s love affair with art began as a child and she found her forte as an English Literature undergraduate, hand-painting personalised birthday cards for friends. Whilst raising her two young daughters, Roxana kept an 18-month sketching diary, depicting happy daily snapshots such as feeding the ducks, playground trips or bedtime reading. Here she honed her signature style of portraying the contented side of life, with laughter-inducing mishaps often occurring in the background! Roxana graduated with an MA in Children’s Book Illustration from Anglia Ruskin University in 2016, publishing her first book Monty and Milo (about her favourite subject: dogs), before going on to illustrate further books for various publishers.

Today Roxana works in pen, ink, gouache, and digitally, finding endless inspiration from Cambridge’s magnificent buildings, green spaces, vibrant pub scene, fascinating people and four-legged friends!

If you’d love an uplifting Roxana de Rond artwork, she’s available for commissions, and her illustrations are sold on her website as cards, prints, minis and originals or can be viewed in all their heart-warming glory at July’s Cambridge Open Studios.
