Ian Olsson Photography
An extraordinary childhood growing up in some of the world’s most picture-perfect locales, from Thailand and Turkey to Bahrain and Brunei inspired a spirit of wanderlust in Ian Olsson from an early age. With breath-taking beaches, stunning temples and phenomenal scenery on his doorstep, he began shooting his surroundings on his faithful Minolta camera. And so began a love affair with photography, which has seen him carve out a successful career in the industry and earn a reputation for his creativity, friendliness and professionalism.
Ian became a full-time photographer over fifteen years ago and loves living in Cambridge with wife Hannah, a BBC journalist, twins and cute cockapoo Leo.
Qualified by the British Institute of Professional Photography, Ian’s talent has taken him to a multitude of settings and interesting assignments. He is one of our go-to photographers here at Indie Cambridge – where his ability to get the most out of the people he captures, really brings out the personality and shines a spotlight on the hard-working people behind all the independent businesses we work with.
But that’s not all. From capturing corporate events to weddings and bar mitzvahs and taking professional headshots to shooting live performances at concerts and theatres – Ian’s enthusiasm for his subjects and his work is a constant feature.
This enthusiasm has also led to Ian wanting to share his knowledge and creativity with others by offering a series of different photography workshops. With most people now using their phone as a camera, Ian focusses on covering aspects such as ‘Getting the best out of your phone camera’, ‘Subject, Exposure and Composition’, and ‘Editing – using the in-built phone app for cropping, exposure, contrast and colour’. So, whether you’re a small business, freelancer or charity looking to improve your photography for social media, or someone who just wants to learn how to take better photos – Ian is here to help.
