Hidden Rooms
7b Jesus Lane, Cambridge, CB5 8BA
If you’ve worked hard all week or saved up to splash out on a special event to celebrate a significant occasion, then you’re going to feel that you deserve a great night out. Marcus Deaves understands this, and he and his team are determined that at Hidden Rooms a great night out is absolutely what you’re going to get. ‘We don’t have the right to mess with somebody’s night out,’ Marcus says, and he means it, whether you’re visiting the bar for a drink, or you’ve hired Hidden Rooms as a venue for a personal celebration, a charity fundraiser, or a corporate team-building event.
Hidden Rooms is not a nightclub, nor is it a shoulder-to-shoulder, hang around at the bar hoping to get a drink sort of place. You need to make a reservation, and from the moment you arrive you’ll be looked after as the honoured guest that you are. You’ll be served, impeccably, a great classic cocktail made with prestige spirits at your own table by what Marcus calls a one hundred per cent thoroughbred bartender.
Marcus knows all about creating a great night out. At sixteen he was collecting glasses in his local in South Wales, and since then he’s been a bartender, a hugely successful DJ and radio broadcaster, and run bars and nightclubs all over Cambridgeshire. He’s poured all that long experience into Hidden Rooms, the place where he wants his guests to ‘find us, keep us.’
Hidden Rooms is not only about drinking cocktails, it’s about making them too. Yes, cocktail making is a skill but, Marcus says, it’s a skill that can be taught and once learned it’s a skill for life, one that anyone who aspires to entertain memorably at home should learn. Luckily, Marcus is a one hundred per cent thoroughbred cocktail coach and in Hidden Rooms he’s created the perfectly thoroughbred bar school. Drink a cocktail at Hidden Rooms, then learn how to make one (almost) as good in your own home. Find us, keep us indeed.
