So whilst the 50-plus staff work from a spacious HQ in Waterbeach, decorated in vibrant hues (of on-brand green and purple, naturally!), they are simultaneously working within 250 or more businesses, diligently managing finances. Cleverly, as they operate through finance@ or accounts@ email addresses from each company’s domain, they appear to the outside world as part of the in-house team.
The business started from humble beginnings, as a small consultancy in Cottenham, run by Katie Bent and Pete Carter, and focused on building trust with new clients and creating a company that felt personal. In 2018, Lee Maughan, former Director of Entrepreneurial Business at Deloitte – who had trained with Katie – came on board as CEO. The business grew from 14 before Covid to more than 50 today, never losing sight of the ethos to ‘do great work with good people in a way that feels real’. Green and Purple has clients spanning the life sciences, technology and creative industries, ranging from local businesses such as Stir and Cambridge Fruit Company to London-based cosmetics and feminine hygiene brand Luna Daily.
Whilst clients love the personal approach and excellent communication (frequently gifting staff with presents and Xmas party invites!), the Green and Purple team love the flexible working ethos and career development opportunities (oh, and the monthly team lunches and on-site Hot Numbers coffee, of course!).
