You may well have sampled the delights of The Garden Kitchen on a visit to their café in Cambridge University Botanic Garden, and now you can enjoy a mix of café and culture with a visit to their site at Cambridge’s renowned contemporary art gallery, Kettle’s Yard.
It really is a dream location – close to the city centre, housed within the gallery building, and with the added advantage in the summer of the use of one of Cambridge’s prettiest church gardens next door at Saint Peter’s (perfect for enjoying a Pimms in the sunshine). Of course, we thoroughly recommend a look around the gallery and wonderful Kettle’s Yard house, but if you want to feed your body as well as your mind, the café itself is firmly on the list of ‘must visit’, especially as it’s one of The Guardian’s ‘50 Best Museum Cafes’ in the UK not to miss!
Celebrating 20 years in business, The Garden Kitchen started life in 2005 when current owner, Andrew Smith, started out with help from the Prince’s Trust, serving healthy fast food from a food truck. After 20 years his original philosophy of creating delicious quality dishes from quality ingredients is still very much at the heart of everything Garden Kitchen stands for.
Today, the menu at Kettle’s Yard is 100% vegetarian, with fresh salads, soups and wraps proving ever popular. Vegans and those on special diets will always be well catered for too.
