Step inside the wondrous studio of Bluntas Bespoke and you can’t fail to be enthralled by the exquisite creations. From vast walls of rich onyx, backlit to dramatic effect, to stunning tables inlayed with vibrant turquoise and pink agate, it’s a feast for the eyes.
Nestled in the Cambridgeshire countryside, the workshop belongs to Sanjay Senior, a master craftsman with 20-plus years’ experience and a passion for eco-conscious design. His high-end artisanal furniture and accessories combine luxurious elements sourced from around the globe, with salvaged materials, culminating in unique pieces with sustainability at their heart.
Amongst Sanjay’s collection you’ll find striking Verde Alpi marble from Italy, mesmerising labradorite from Madagascar, alluring agate from Brazil plus jewel grade semi-precious stones, including amethyst and malachite. These have been skilfully combined with reclaimed materials from decommissioned buildings, forgotten structures, and industrial remnants. Sanjay’s creativity was sparked as a child growing up in Jamaica and he vividly recalls his grandad making him a guitar from a piece of wood, a sardine can and strings. Moving to London aged 14, Sanjay studied carpentry, intending to follow his father into carpentry, but ‘fell into a job’ as a facilities contractor for dairy, Arla Foods. He also created themed design installations for Coca-Cola at their Kent site.
During his time with Arla, Sanjay began collecting semi-precious stone panels from overseas along with redundant components from the dairy. Today you’ll spot these beautifully reimagined in the workshop, with a stainless-steel milking tube transformed into a distinctive light trio and reclaimed oak timber and brass crafted into a quirky doorstop.
Sanjay launched Bluntas Bespoke in the summer of 2024 and is excited to welcome customers to his workshop whether they desire a one-off piece of sustainable luxury with a story to tell or a specific commission. Either way, it’s a truly inspiring place!
