A much-loved jeweller in the heart of Cambridge for 45 years, Cellini is a veritable portal to rare and precious gemstones, diamonds and pearls from around the globe. From Tahitian pearls and Norwegian peridot to South African tourmaline, Cellini boasts exceptional one-of-a-kind gemstones, sourced worldwide, with care.
The independent jeweller, located on Rose Crescent, specialises in handcrafted bespoke jewellery, created by a team of seven goldsmiths across two in-house workshops. Each piece is thoughtfully crafted utilising time-honoured traditional methods passed down the generations, supplemented by technological advances such as laser welders and 3D printing. Lustrous pearls are the lifeblood of the business, and in fact inspired John Carter to launch Cellini on Market Street in 1981, to bring rare gems of the Orient to Cambridge.
The jewellers moved to Rose Crescent in 1982, and over the years expanded its services to include gemmology, repairs, engraving, restoration and redesigns. It also houses the region’s largest selection of Tahitian, South Sea, Keshi, Akoya, and freshwater pearls. John retired in 2006, when the business underwent a management buyout, and it is now led by third generation owners. The succession always comes from within the business rather than bringing in external investment to protect the values and DNA of Cellini. The team love to share the passion and knowledge that comes from traveling the globe, from Italy to Hong Kong, in their pursuit of the finest gems.
Cellini’s curated collections range from contemporary pieces to timeless traditional styles inspired by history, with price points from £50 to over £50,000. The 17-strong staff are ardent in their love of jewellery, so customers benefit from their extensive expertise when making a purchase. This, coupled with excellent customer service and lifetime jewellery aftercare, may account for the fact that Cellini clients find it hard to shop anywhere else!
