With a background in fine art, practical horticulture, and a lifelong love of the natural world, Lucy Conochie founded a business that means she can do her dream job every day.

Lucy’s designs are defined by an understated style, drawing on both modern and traditional forms and practices, using a subtle and refined palette of materials to give schemes an elegant simplicity that allows the landscape to speak for itself. She designs environmentally responsible spaces that are approached with consideration for people, the earth, and future generations without compromising on beauty and delight. Lucy’s thoughtful and selective approach results in beautiful and long-lasting gardens that give back to nature and are full of colour and interest.

After graduating with an MA from the Slade School of Fine Art in 2007, Lucy turned to her other skill and passion – gardens – to fund her studio practice. This quiet and fulfilling tradition of creating beauty in people’s homes, whilst fostering a connection with nature, gradually became her sole focus. She established Lucy Conochie Design officially in 2015 after graduating from Capel Manor College, and in 2018 she returned to the county of her childhood, Cambridgeshire, where her practice is now based. In 2025 Lucy earned a prestigious Society of Garden Designers Award.

Lucy has developed an eclectic portfolio of projects for private clients, architects and developers throughout East Anglia and across the UK. To deliver an expert service, she works with a select team of talented professionals who approach new projects with passion and interest, and a desire to make things happen. As a team they look for possibilities, solutions, and the chance to do something a little bit different that will bring people delight. From biodiverse landscapes to tiny urban courtyards, all projects are approached with imagination and creativity, and a passion for connecting people to nature and wildlife.
