PA Safety and Building Consultancy Limited
With an impressive portfolio topping 2,000 projects, Paulo Anaia has worked on some of the UK’s most iconic buildings, from London’s Abbey Road Studios to Cambridge’s Woolf Institute in the grounds of Westminster College.
An expert in design, construction, safety and compliance, Paulo runs Cambridge-based PA Safety and Building Consultancy Limited alongside his wife Pina Broccoli Anaia. Together, they offer a raft of effective and sustainable solutions for the built environment, specialising in CDM (Construction Design and Management) Regulations, specifically the roles of principal designer, principal contractor and CDM advisor.
Having achieved prestigious Chartered Building Consultancy status with the CIOB, they also offer building consultancy services such as project management and construction management.
A particular passion is helping clients to futureproof via sustainable low energy building and retrofit, incorporating Passivhaus and EnerPHit standards.
Paulo studied for a degree in Design and Construction Management, then worked largely on commercial and residential new build and refurbishment projects before launching his business in 2001. It was a humble beginning, operating from home with ‘a desk, a fax machine and a really bad broadband connection’, but, 21 years on, the business is thriving, with an extensive client list including property developers, architects, engineering firms, academic institutions and media companies, spanning England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
Co-director Pina keeps the wheels in motion thanks to her impeccable organisation, administration and management skills.
With a long list of professional qualifications, Paulo is a veritable mine of knowledge on safety, design and construction. But don’t let that intimidate you as he’s not only affable, but has a true talent for demystifying bamboozling rules and regulations, ensuring construction projects can run smoothly.
In an industry governed by ever-changing legislation, Paulo is a very safe pair of hands!
