If you have a hankering for delicious Italian cuisine look no further than the mouth-watering dishes created by Nonna’s Lab. From fresh focaccia to perfect pesto, owner Roberto D’Attoma has crafted a menu of traditional Italian cuisine, which will have you going back for seconds.
 
An experienced chef, Roberto learnt his trade in his native Italy where he trained in small, Michelin star restaurants. He describes the experience as like being in someone’s home, where everything he learnt was taught to him by chefs who had learnt from their grandparents and their grandparents before them.
 
When Roberto and his wife Laura moved to the Ely area a little over two years ago, he set to work creating his online food company, Nonna’s Lab. Building on the dishes he had mastered during his career as well as the family recipes he had been taught by his own ‘nonna’ (grandmother) and mother, Nonna’s Lab brings simple yet delicious Italian cuisine to its customers’ homes.
 
The online shop offers an appetizing menu ranging from delicious bread and desserts to homemade pasta and fresh sauces. Roberto prides himself on using high quality, local ingredients with all meat and vegetables used in his family recipes sourced from within a 20-mile radius of Ely.
 
Everything is made by Roberto, from the traditional ‘bronze-cut’ pasta, which has a slightly rough surface enabling it to hold more of the delicious sauce, to the best-selling sausages made from a secret family recipe passed down for generations. Such is Roberto’s passion for only using homemade ingredients he even makes the delicate ‘Savoiardi’ biscuits – known more commonly as Lady Fingers, which form the basis of the classic tiramisu.
