Cambridge Tour Guide
Think you know Cambridge? The team at Cambridge Tour Guide certainly does. Since the business began in 2011, owners Chris Skilton and Tony Rodgers and their friendly team, who are all registered Cambridge Green Badge Guides, have led hundreds of tours across our city’s historic streets and are a wealth of knowledge on all things Cambridge.
Following a career in the Foreign Office, Chris took early retirement and began considering what next? With a thirst for learning he decided to explore tour guiding and enrolled on a course run by the Institute of Tourist Guiding, which is where he met Tony. With both men sharing a passion for Cambridge – Chris being a local resident and Tony an alumnus of Trinity Hall and a Life Fellow of Hughes Hall, they struck up a friendship and once their training was completed, Cambridge Tour Guide was born.
Offering both private and public tours, Cambridge Tour Guide are permitted to take visitors into the city’s famous colleges, including the jewel in the crown, King’s College Chapel. A public tour sets off from the Cambridge Gift Shop on Rose Crescent at 1pm daily and is priced £20 per person, while private tours begin at £140 for groups of up to 20 people. Whether it’s the daily tour, the spooky ghost tour or a completely bespoke route to suit a group’s specific requirements, Chris and Tony take great pride in ensuring everyone comes away feeling entertained and having discovered something new about the city, something which has earned them the top spot on TripAdvisor out of 105 Cambridge tours. Many of the guides are also trained in leading tours around Cambridge’s magnificent Fitzwilliam Museum – a great way to see a selection of the museum’s hidden gems.
If you’re looking to find out more about Cambridge, whether you’re a lifelong resident or visiting from overseas, why not take a tour?
