Cambridge Cookery
Homerton Gardens, Purbeck Road, Cambridge, CB2 8EB
Cambridge independents know how to excel, and Cambridge Cookery does just that. Now in its eighth year as a café and fifteenth as the Cookery School, the superb quality of its offering, as well as its beautiful setting, makes it a beacon for those who appreciate great food. And all this is no surprise as owner, Tine Roche, trained at the world-renowned Leiths School of Food and Wine and brings with her an absolute commitment to sustainability, high welfare, local and organic produce.
The café, closed recently for a well-earned facelift, has now reopened with a welcome return to its much-loved Scandinavian and Italian culinary roots, plus some exciting new additions. Swedish and Danish classics return in the form of their unique house rye open sandwiches and a very full cooked breakfast and brunch offering. Handmade Italian food features too, and with a new menu of homemade dishes to order and take away, the Cambridge Cookery experience can now be extended and enjoyed at home. Festive specialities are also on the café menu with Christmas treats including Swedish Glögg and fantastic Italian bakes.
New to 2025 will be the launch of evening dining events and wine and food tastings – made all the more special with the café’s atmospheric location in a former stonemasons’ brick building with its stylish Scandinavian-influenced interior overlooking a terrace and large lawn.
Next door at the Cookery School, corporate events and classes inspire the would-be chefs amongst us. A chance to bring people together and learn new skills, the reviews speak volumes about the expertise and knowledge discovered within the stunning backdrop of the School’s state-of-the-art kitchen (complete with Neff ovens and beautiful iittala cookwear).
If you appreciate good food – both eating it and learning about it – and all within carefully designed and beautiful surroundings, Cambridge Cookery is a must for you.
