Artesan and quirky is how Tim and Caroline Richardson describe their café and gallery, Art & Soul. Located in St Neots, on New Street, the colourful venue is the result of a creative vision the couple had over 25 years ago to run a space that combines a café and art gallery with a strong community feel. With a young family at the time, it wasn’t the right stage in their lives for a new venture so the couple parked the idea, but as the years passed Caroline, a glass artist, and Tim a leadership consultant and writer, never forgot their dream. When the St Neots address popped up in an online search, they knew they had to explore. The building, which was formerly part of the town’s Assembly Rooms, stole their hearts and in November 2018 after a relocation from Romford and a gentle restoration of the building, Art & Soul opened.

Billed as a creative hub, Art & Soul is a welcoming café and gallery spread across two floors serving nutritious food made from locally sourced ingredients alongside a vibrant art gallery which champions local talent. There’s a tempting menu offering ‘posh toasts’ and ‘soulful sandwiches’ alongside a homemade chicken burger served with oven baked potato wedges (no deep fat fryer here) and sweet treats. Hot Numbers coffee and drinks from Cambridge Juice Company make up the refreshments alongside cocktails on Friday evenings.

Customers will also find a buzzing timetable of art workshops for adults and children alongside a selection of spaces available for private hire. There are regular live performers and for homeworkers looking for a change of scene, the café offers a day pass for just £18 including a meal, unlimited tea and coffee and plenty of broadband.

So, if you’re looking for a slice of creativity with your morning coffee, why not give Art & Soul a try.
